Keep on Glitching, Keep on Hopping

Glitch-hop, one of the most exciting electronic genres out there. It’s something you can totes chill to (Baths), and something you can ‘go all out and pump your fist’ to (the Glitch Mob). Diversity is the key here (unlike glo-fi/chillwave), but because of that, there is some utter shite to be found.
Thankfully, some musical kings stood up and brought us the Low End Theory podcast. They have some pretty amazing stuff going on (click on the goddamn glitch mob link!), everytime I listen to it I feel like some great party at a friend’s house (lots of ganja, lots of alcoholic beverages).
But that’s not the only side to Glitch-Hop, there are some classic names already (Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus) and they are beginning to get to the masses. Not a bad thing, you can finally take your ‘normal friends’ to a gig. First signs of this were at Hudson Mohawke’s gig at Motel Mozaique, which pretty much consisted of partypeeps and alts dancing ’till they were sweating like a marathon runner. Now some of you ‘effing hipsters’ are probably mad at me for liking the commercialization of GlitchHop, but the thing is, things like LET are always gonna stay alt, Flying Lotus is really different live (much more dancable, more cliché glitch-hop) and none of the ‘msntrm bros’ are gonna buy his album anyway.
